Ambient Temperature
Ambient temperature is a temperature of a cooling medium, usually air which surrounds the actuator or another device.

Coil Spring
Coil spring is an important component of the suspension system. It is a heavy duty spiraled metal component of the suspension system forming a dynamic connection between the body of an automobile and its chassis

Dampers
Dampers function by controlling the flow of the fluid from outer to inner chamber of a cylinder during piston actuation. It can be adjusted easily to different road conditions and provides good balance to the vehicles.

Dashpots
In order to resist motion, Dashpots make the use of viscous friction. The important components of dashpot is piston that moves through a viscous fluid in conjunction with a spring, in shock absorbers. The damping force and the velocity of the movement is proportional.

Gas/ Pressurized Shock Absorber
Gas shock absorber or pressurized shock absorber provides smooth and safe drive. The damping consistency of this device is brilliant.

Independent Suspension
In independent suspension system each wheel on an axle is sprung separately and can react independently to bumps. This suspension makes the use of a solid, beam or rigid axle to "connect" the suspension of two wheels.

Leaf Spring
Leaf spring is a flat, flexible piece of metal that is curved into an arc. The spring bends when forces act upon it. These springs are used in pick-up trucks and is mounted on a solid axle to a vehicle.

MacPherson Strut
Macpherson strut is a suspension system combining the coil spring and shock absorber in one system.

Nonadjustable Shock Absorber
Also called as self compensating shock absorber, a nonadjustable shock absorber, is a device that can accommodate varying weights and propelling force. It is capable of providing a specific deceleration or reaction force. Nonadjustable shock absorber combines soft contact dampening with the self compensating ability for decelerating a wide range of weights.

Pneumatic Shock Absorber
Pneumatic shock absorber makes the use of cushion of air in order to absorb shock. The important components of the shock absorber are cylinder and a piston defining a pressure chamber in the cylinder.

Rubber Shock Absorber
It is a device made of elastic material and mounted in a shock absorbing device. It can handle and absorb pressure. Rubber shock absorber consists of different sections with different diameters and different elastic coefficients.

Shock Absorber
Shock absorber prevents the vehicles with unwanted shocks. It helps in the dissipation of the energy of the suspension. It keeps the wheels contact with the road and gives smooth ride.

Spring Shock Absorber
Spring shock absorber uses coil spring. There is a rebound dampening unit at the center of the spring shock absorber. As the length of the shock absorber changes the fluid starts to flow.

Strut
In strut reinforced shock absorber is used as one of the wheel’s locating members. It is usually bolted with the wheel hub.

Suspension
Suspension in a vehicle provides better handling and braking. It is essential for providing smooth and bump free ride. The vehicle is protected from unwantes and untimely wear from this suspension system. Suspension system as a whole consists of chasis, springs and shock absorber.

Suspension Damping
Suspension damping is process that dampens the vibration. This function is accomplished by shock absorbers.

Suspension Stroke
Suspension system is defined as the the vertical movement made by the wheel as compared to the body

Suspension Travel
Suspension travel is defined as the amount of vertical wheel movement that suspension allows.

Twin Tube Shock Absorber
A twin tube shock absorber consists of tube inside the outer shock body which contains the piston assembly. Coil springs of different types inside the shock body are used. It is basically a low pressure shock. The inner tube of the shock absorber is known as pressure tube whereas the outer tube is known as the reserve tube.
