Hydraulic
shock absorbers are the integral part of the suspension system of the
vehicles. There are different types of shock absorbers designed in a
different way to smooth out the damp or the jerks and give smooth and
controlled ride.
The amount of resistance a shock absorber develops can be assigned to
suspension speed, size and number of the orifice in the piston. Hydraulic
shock absorber is also directly proportional to the velocity. Hence faster
the suspension moves, more resistance the shock absorbers provide. It is due
to this feature that shock absorber adjust to road conditions.
Hydraulic shock absorber works in two cycles that is extension cycle and
compression cycle. In both the cycles the shock absorber functions by
displacing the fluid.
The upward and the downward movement of the piston, forces the oil through
the holes. The in and out movement of the piston changes the oil volume.
When the volume is low, the excess oil is forced back in the oil reservoir
via the base valve. The outward movement of the piston, creates a vacuum and
a volume of oil that is displaced is drawn back into the piston through an
orifice in the base valve.
Types
of Hydraulic Shock Absorber
There are different types of hydraulic shock absorber:
- Adjustable Shock Absorber
- Non Adjustable Shock Absorber
- Telescopic Shock Absorber
Functions of hydraulic shock absorbers
- Hydraulic shock absorber not only eliminates vibration but also
absorbs striking energy in a short time
- Reduces operating noise
- Gives smoother ride
- In industries it accelerates machine operation and elevates
production capacity
- Extend the life of machine
Applications
Hydraulic shock absorber can be used for different industries like:
- Plastic injection moulding machine
- Feeding equipment
- Conveyors
- Air cylinders
- Vibration conveyor systems
- Medical equipment
- Foundry industries
- Package machines
- Aircraft industries
- Automotive Industries
Buying Tips: Hydraulic Shocker
Selection of hydraulic shock absorber should be done keeping following
aspects and parameters in mind:
- What is the application of the shock absorber that whether it is
to be used for any industrial operation or for moving vehicle.
- If it is to be used in the industry total weight of impacting
object should be analyzed.
- What is the propelling force that is whether it is pneumatic,
hydraulic cylinder, motor etc.
- What is the impact velocity.
